Hotel is in a decent location within the city, close to everything so it’s good for a hockey game or something if you need somewhere to sleep for a night. But if you’re planning a nice vacation to Montreal don’t stay here. It’s dirty, hairs everywhere all over the towels and beds. This hotel has a government contract for indigenous people to come and stay there while they get medical care. Which is fine but you may be shocked upon your arrival and stay as they hangout in the lobby and out front of the hotel. Service etc was good but it’s not a nice hotel.

We stayed for 2 nights for a concert. We found blood stains/splatter on the ceiling in the bathroom, under the ac unit, on our bed sheets and on the ceiling in the main area. A used facecloth was left in the shower. Hair strands were left on the hair dryer. The telephone and bathroom toilet were covered in dust. My sister had paper cuts on her butt from the toilet paper. The pictures make you thing it is a boutique hotel but when we seen it, we instantly wondered if we were in the right spot. We watched someone get arrested right outside. However you could see the Bell Centre, that was probably the only redeeming quality, but only if you’re a Habs fan.

I admit we were somewhat concerned reading the reviews of this hotel, but I'd like to share our experience which was entirely positive. We stayed for two nights on short notice. The front desk staff were welcoming, helpful, and professional in in all our interactions with them. The parking was a bit overpriced but convenient. Our room was very clean, spacious, and quiet during the night. The room we stayed in was at the end of the 4th floor. There was some minor construction noise in the morning as there is a large new building going up next door. Many of the other guests were First Nations including many couples and families. Some guests were smoking cigarettes outside, as smoking is not allowed in the hotel. We didn't find this to be problematic.

Scott M, who wrote the review before mine, NAILED it. And I don’t know him. Adding to his review. We were also there for a concert (two nights of Metallica). We stayed at this hotel for four nights. FOUR. We took an Uber from YUL airport and as soon as we pulled up I wondered if we were in the right place. Lots of people outside smoking and enjoying sunshine. Climbed the stairs to check in. We were travelling with friends and assigned rooms on different floors. One elevator was out of service. Had to hold the “door close” button for the other elevator to take us to the 4th floor. Left the elevator — the hallway carpet was disgusting. Stained and filthy. Outside of our door there were clumps of hair like someone pulled all the hair off a brush and dropped it, and what looked like dry skin. Card key folder has a note to keep the deadbolt locked in room. There were three locks on the door. The room is basic. Checked all the bed linen and bathroom towels, seemed clean. Some dents on the walls. Then immediately started Googling other Montreal hotels to find a way out of Espresso. So many events meant no availability: Metallica, Sam Smith, Pride parade, tennis, Pokémon event. Montreal hotels were sold out. Slept ok though awoken around 6 am by the service elevator door banging and the sound of the elevator going up and down. Walls are very thin. I believe the majority of the guests staying here are on medical trips to Montreal from First Nations communities. The sad reality is that they cannot receive medical treatments in their community, and they need to make the trip to Montreal for services. Many people were in wheelchairs, some with amputations. Many eyepatches. All the guests we spoke to were friendly and kind, and we had good laughs in the elevator over having to hold the “door closed” button to move the elevator. The hotel should disclose its arrangement and not pass itself off as appearing like a boutique hotel with photos of guests in fluffy robes, artful glasses of wine and nice linens. Our faux duvet didn’t even have a cover — it was sandwiched between two bedsheets. Every thin towel in the bathroom had an “Espresso” label like you would put on your kids clothes at daycare. Booked in February 2023 for an August 2023 stay. Paid about $1k for a four-night stay, Should’ve read the reviews posted this summer. Our bad that we were catfished.

If you are single women or a family with small children, stay away from this hotel. We booked this hotel to attend a concert and stay the next day to check out the sites in Montreal as it was our first trip to Montreal. We booked this hotel for $400+ per night. After tax and $31 per day for parking the total was just over $1000. My wife and I were so excited to stay here. As soon as you arrive, you can tell that something is not right. There are many people loitering around the front entrance smoking. We had a feeling that something wasn’t right. We checked online once we got our room. We came to realize that this hotel houses low income or homeless families. I completely understand that some people go through tough times. However, if you are going to charge $400 a night I would expect to be told about this. We arrived back from the concert very late and there was still people loitering out front of the hotel, we took the dark elevator up to our floor and were greeted with a person passed out in a chair. The hotel itself is in a great location but that is really the only positive thing about this hotel. If you are a group of single women and/or a family with young children I would look elsewhere for a hotel. The families that are living there, take over the lobby and the entrance to the hotel at all hours. If you are going to charge a luxury cost, the hotel should be just that, luxurious. We felt that it was not anywhere near luxurious and definetly not worth the money.
